Hello world!

Welcome to Thrift Store Love! This is first of many many posts. This is a blog dedicated to all things thrift, meant to fill the void that exists when it comes to thrift-centered sites. There are going to be many ways readers may be involved with this site.

Readers are encouraged to e-mail thriftstorelove(at)mac.com with any of the following:

Note: Instead of e-mailing actual photos, we prefer that you upload them into a photo site such as flickr and send us the url.

Arts and Crafts: If you upcycled something from a thrift store–i.e., created something new and cool out of it, let us show it off for you! Keep in mind that Before and After photos are nice.

Fashion: Photos of readers rocking great thrift store finds are welcomed.

Favorite stores: The Favorite Stores page will include a list of stores sent in by readers. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all the thrift stores in the world–merely the ones that folks with good taste recommend.

Great finds: Photos and a short description (2-3 sentences) of great thrift store finds will be featured regularly. In the description, please include what the item is, the name and location of the store at which you purchased it, and the price you paid.

News: Notable news relating to thrift stores in any part of the world will be featured regularly.

Thrifty tales: Did you get engaged to someone you met at a resale shop? Did you stumble upon one of your long lost childhood belongings at a thrift store after being away from it for several years? Share fun stories with other thrift store lovers.

Thrift store love: If you love thrift stores so much that you felt a need to express it in song, poem, or some other medium–let us know! This is a great place to showcase thrift store-inspired acts of creativity.

Naturally this site will evolve over time, so if there is anything else thrift store related that you don’t see here, feel free to make a suggestion!

  1. Love that (finally!) thrifting has become more mainstream…but am afraid that so many will get the goodies before I can! Who am I kidding??? In this overconsumptive world there will always be plenty for everyone (and then some). Have been a thriftychica since I started looking for furniture for my Barbie villages…have since decorated and redecorated 2 apartments, 3 houses, 4 children, a husband and self in some of the most amazing thrift shop finds…have totally converted my two teenage sons…all the girls think they rock because of their cool style! Quit teaching after child two to dedicate myself to home, kids family and of course my lucrative eBay biz! Find me at ivegonemod on eBay where score some amazing stuff…all acquired in the local thrifts around town…nice to chat!
